Twirly Worley is a flow artist who is motivated by self-expression & authenticity. He grew up in a small, southern town in the United States, feeling disconnected from the communities around him. His first festival was Electric Forest, a magical place in Michigan, USA. Once he found the edm community, it felt like home to him and allowed him to shed any need for external validation and embark on a journey of self-love. He picked up his first flow prop in 2022 and since then has been eager to expand his knowledge into any and all types of flow. He hopes to show that flowing is more than just tricks and lights, but also an opportunity to meditate and connect with one’s body while creating outward art. Flow arts have allowed him to constantly reach for a level of confidence, self-love, and motivation he didn’t know he could attain and he hopes to share this mission with whoever wants to follow along.
What Twirly Worley hopes to always be is a student. He aspires to experience all types of flow, grateful for any knowledge he attains along the way. He believes flow comes from within each individual artist, making everyone’s style a special form of self-expression. Worley enjoys taking styles from various props and meshing them together into a cohesive flow style that’s entirely his own. Authenticity is the best energy to give off, and Twirly Worley hopes to share more of that with others.
He currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, but is open to any possibilities. He performs wherever there are opportunities that line up with his interests, no matter the travel. His heart is within his flow, so as long as he can have a prop in hand, he will be happy in any part of the world.
Late 2022 I acquired my first prop, a single baton. For the first year, I was unable to put it down. I built up quite an obsession with the feelings around flow. As I was adopted more into the scene, I was introduced to fans, dragon staff, and buugeng. Immediately, I was eager to learn them all! I saw the beauty of each prop, and couldn't wait to find my flow with them.
Buugeng has a special place in my heart. The first time I picked up Buugeng, I felt connected, more than I can describe. Even in the novice stages, Buugeng felt like an extension of my body. The movements were cohesive & collaborative. It's a prop that keeps your brain in a knot. I respect its ability to keep you confused and constantly seeking the 'where do we go from here’?
I'm inspired daily by all variations of art and self-expression. Visual art, music, dance, fashion, and ultimately people being their authentic selves is what comes to mind. I feel that understanding your magic and allowing that to show through is the biggest key to finding your flow. Inspire yourself, and grow from what makes you, you!
I love the endless challenges Buugeng provides. The balance between tech and flow, but also the need for sharp and smooth movements is unmatched. You are creating intricate shapes & patterns that not only trick the minds of the viewer but also yourself.
Respect the prop and allow your body to be the tool. Seek out the harmony between the music, yourself, and your prop of choice. When all three of those are being respected, you create a collaborative piece of art. You allow the prop to speak the sounds of the music and express your innermost feelings.
He found home in the EDM community at Electric Forest and embraced flow arts in 2022 as a path to self-love and meditation, inspiring others through expressive, transformative art.
